Held World Record in Masters Freestyle until Gipper Broke the Record **Only dog in history of the sport to compete in World Championships of Expert Freestyle over and over for 11 years first time 2005 and he competed all the years in between and is still competing in World Championships in Expert freestyle as late as the 2015 World Championships in Expert Freestyle**
Rocket was our first disc dog who got us hooked on this incredibly fun sport that has taken us all over the world. When I first picked Rocket it was because I wanted a athletic dog and I decided after lots of research I wanted a athletic and intelligent dog that I could participate in some sort of dog sport and at the time I never knew disc dogging even existed.
Well one day I went to go talk to a lady who had border collie puppies for sale and I just wanted to ask her questions about the dog without really the intentions of getting one that day but after three hours of asking questions this one border collie would not leave me alone and wanted me to play and hold him. Well and three hours later I told Stacey to bring me a check and the rest is history.
We named Rocket after former great Notre Dame Football player “ROCKET” Raghib Ismail.
When Rocket was like 10 months old Stacey brought a disc home from the pet store and I said what the heck and I went and the back yard and threw it to see if Rocket would go get it and he shot off like a Rocket when I threw and he jumped and snagged it in the air and brought it back and well here we are today.
Rocket has truly blessed not only my wife and me, but I have been told by many people Rocket has blessed the world and put smiles in many peoples hearts.
Rocket has always had a special spot in his heart for Special Needs children and the elderly. But his biggest gift of all to me was when he and his brother detected I was about to have a stroke and I went to the hospital and well the doctors said my dogs saved me from potentially a life threatening stroke.
At Almost 13 years old Rocket 2016 Georgia State Frisbee Dog Champion
July 7th, 2017 Rocket is still doing good, he has slowed down greatly but everyday he loves to give lots of love to Stacey and I and he loves to get out and run around the property and still loves to give it his best effort chasing the frisbee and whatever toys he can get a hold of.
April 18th, 2017 Rocket is Rocket he is thirteen now and he has some trouble hearing and seeing at times but he still loves to get out there and chase down throws even if he does not catch them. He is such a inspiration and such a great role model for all of the dogs. I probably will not be competing with Rocket in anything but every week we will still play together.
July 15th, 2017 Rocket still never stops, The Old guy has slowed down a lot this year and I have basically stopped doing any freestyle with Rocket as he will give 100 percent but his body will not allow it. He loves to still run around the property with me with the golf cart and he still loves to compete in disc dogging and still gets a good round in with mini distances or discdogathon games. He is a legend and as long as he is wanting to play I will always throw him the plastic.
February 18th, 2016 What can you say about Rocket he never stops, He might have slown down some in his old age but he does not know that. He loves to play all the time 24/7 if you will engage with him. He has been such a leader.
November 17th, 2015 Right now I am in the middle of recovering from double knee surgery but Rocket is happy to bring me a toy over and over. I do hope in the next few days I can start taking Rocket and his siblings for walks. What a incredible run by Rocket at the world championships. I had been told Rocket is the first dog who had been able to qualify for the world championships in expert freestyle over 11 different years. Rocket is a freak of nature.
July 23rd, 2015 Rocket is doing fine and running around as always like a crazy pyscho border collie just slower then in the past. He did qualify for the world championships in spot landing and in a few months we will get to compete at least in all the last chance qualifiers together and he will at least get to play.
April 1st, 2015 The old man keeps on going and going, such a sweet heart Rocket has.
February 16th, 2015 What can you say about Rocket except he is not normal at his old age he might have gotten slower but he has never realized this as he never ever stops he just keeps going and going. Every day he lives life to the fullest. He is such a joy and a sweetheart to be around. Rocket told me the other day please dont retire him keep letting him play! So we will go another season.
December 9th, 2014 Rocket is doing well at his old age and he is still loving life to the fullest. I would say it is kind of sad when a dog is getting older but you can see he is so happy still so that is all that matters. We still get out there and play and compete all the time.
Sept 1st Rocket is still doing well and will compete in World Championships this year in DiscDogAthon Freestyle and Spot Landing which is great for his age and Rocket will also compete in Masters Freestyle
June 7th, 2014 A little update on Rocket. Still at over 10 years old he continues to amaze me and others. A few weekends ago he won a Skyhoundz DiscDogAthon Qualifier in Freestyle and qualified for once again another world championships. He is such a great pup. His father passed away a few weeks ago due to old age, Rocket has slowed down but he loves to plays so much so we keep playing we just slow the level down. He puts a smile on your face everyday and he still gets so excited to see you when you get homes he pees a little bit. Smiles.
